I just started learning Russian and I wanted to know if I should hold off on using the syntax cards, and definition cards until I know a lot more Russian. I just started the word list and also just started lessons on Italki. I have basically just the alphabet down. I am assuming I should just do the picture word cards until I have learned enough that I can understand the sentences?
Any help with this would be great.
I’m only confused, because I have been using the Syntax cards on anki for Spanish and they have been working great!
@andrew: If you already have experience using them for Spanish, I’d go ahead and use them for Russian, using an iTalki tutor or a language exchange partner to help you create example sentences for the 625 (as per https://fluent-forever.com/italki-tutor-guide/ ). Russian grammar is challenging, and getting a headstart by starting with syntax cards for your 625 wordlist will make it more manageable in the long run.
That said, it’ll be a while before you can handle definition cards, unless you have a tutor help you create super simple definitions, too.
